baby boy...turkey...and stuff

Yesterday was a day of great anticipation!

We found out at my 20 week ultrasound that we are having a boy! YAY! We are so freakin' excited! NOw we can start preparing more for the baby. I'm half way there. Little Brennen was healthy, active and very proud! :)

Thanksgiving will be at my house again this year, but for a smaller crowd than last year. I promised myself I wouldn't get stressed out or over-do-it like last year, but I always feel like everything has to be perfect when we have company. I'm kicking myself (hard) in the ass right now. Kinda "wtf was I thinking!?!?" I should've taken this year off since I'm preggers, but too late now. Wah wah wah. Done whining.

On a better note, I have so much to be thankful for this year. My children are happy and healthy, I have an amazing husband, we bought our first home this year and now expecting our little baby boy. I have amazing friends and family, a good job and I, too, am healthy. Life doesn't get much better than this, folks. And if ya think it does, maybe you need to step back and realize how blessed you are and you'll find yourself much happier. :)

just... shut up.

So...we decide to grab some dinner at Johnny's tonight because I'm in my typical Friday night pregnant mood and it was packed when we walked in. I'm thinking, "great, my kids are about to bounce off the walls." We decided to sit at the bar so we could eat quickly and what a mistake that was! We had the joy of sitting near the register, so we heard everyone picking up to go orders. I can't believe how ridiculous people are. I actually felt bad for the girl work up front because it seemed almost every man that walked in the door had a huge chip on their shoulder. Anyway, one guy was being such an ass...I know I was staring in disbelief. I just wanted to tell him to shut up for the poor girl.
Thats it for today. Just another rant about being annoyed from this preggo chick.

I feel like....Christmas

I've already caught Christmas fever this year which is rather odd for me.

We usually put up the tree and start decorating the weekend right after Thanksgiving, but tonight we put the smaller of our 2 trees up in the upstairs living area. I am thinking I will probably put up the big tree downstairs this weekend. I don't know it hit me so early this year, but I am just in the mood for Christmas already. I'm ready to bake, shop and spend some time with my family. Maybe my pregnant belly just wants the cookies and goodies! lol!

Get ready....after all, it is only 42 days away!!!

Election Day 2008

So, did you get your butt out to vote today???

I voted early last week since I knew the kids would be out of school today and did not want to face the lines with my weak pregnant bladder. Who did I vote for? That's none of your business. Just know that I did vote and I am comfortable with my decision.

For those of you who decide NOT to vote, don't you complain, bitch, rant and rave one word to me over the next 4 years about what's going on with the government in our country. If you're too lazy to do a little research, read about the topics at hand, make an educated decision that YOU feel is right to earn your vote....you lose the right to bitch!

I do have to say, no matter who wins this elect, it will be something to make a big mark in the United States history! As someone who loves history and was a big history buff in school (yes, I have my Daughters of the American Revolution History Award from 1998 framed an everything!), whether Obama/Biden or McCain/Palins wins this election, both are a first for American history. I am anxious to see what happens! Will we end up with the first black President or the first woman Vice President?

No matter which political party you associate yourself with...Democratic, Republican, Liberal, Independent..... I hope you exercised one of the best rights you have and voted.

Or shall we say, DUMBASSES.

We've had some bad weather as a result of "Fay" this week in the metro Atlanta area and I am sick of driving into work in the morning with rain pouring and having a car ride my ass down the road without their effing headlights on! Not only is it 100% STUPID, but it is against the friggin' law, dumbass!
That is all.

We're pregnant!!!

***happy dance!****

We did it! Yay!
I'll be going to the doctor in a couple weeks, but it looks like my Due Date is April 17, 2009. Gosh, that seems so far away!
All I know right now is that I've been super tired and irritable. Oh, and WTF is up with the bloated belly already??? In the words of my mother, "Oh Jesus!" :)

Yay for babies!
I guess that's it for tonight, because...(wait for it...) I'm tired and going to bed! lol.

Expectations...

A couple of weeks ago, 2 of my close friends (on separate occasions) told me I expect too much of people. Honestly, this had never crossed my mind before and I'm not sure if it is necessarily a good or bad perspective on my behalf.

On one side, I can definitely see how this could be a negative; perhaps this is even a big part of the reason I find myself hurt so often by people in my life. However, from the other view, if I don't set some level of expectation – does this make it easier for others to walk away from their responsibilities?

Is it really so terrible to expect a man to be a father to his son and to not only say it, but show it in his actions? Am I asking too much for a person to keep their word; for someone to lend a shoulder to cry on when you've done the same for them? My instincts tell me "no," but now I question these very thoughts and the outlooks on relationships with people I've had for so long. I continue to allow my heart to be broken by expecting these things? Would I be sparing myself pain and sadness but writing off those expectations and just allowing people to be, quite frankly, jerks?

Who I am to say what is right or wrong? Obviously I am not a God and have never thought of myself better than any other human, but I do not think I am being unfair by following my heart and wanting the best for myself, my children and my loved ones. Why, after all these years, do I find the urge to "wash my hands" of the people who have caused me continuous pain over the years? Have I reached my breaking point, or have my experience over the past several years finally given me the ability to realize that I have been expecting too much? Is it okay to have a paragraph with all questions? :)

Regardless, these thoughts are all very intriguing to me and I think things are going to change in my future, at least, I hope they will. I want to be able to offer more love to those who love me in return and stop letting the pain control so many factors in my life. Today I say "good riddance" to those who are missing out on the good things and smile for the many happy moments with my loved ones in the future.

Family

fam·i·ly Pronunciation[fam-uh-lee, fam-lee]

1. parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.
2. the children of one person or one couple collectively: We want a large family.
3. the spouse and children of one person: We're taking the family on vacation next week.
4. any group of persons closely related by blood, as parents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins: to marry into a socially prominent family.
5. all those persons considered as descendants of a common progenitor.

Of course we all have families that fit these definitions; the question is: Do you have close ties with your "immediate" family, as decribed above, or have you created your own?

Growing up, I was part of many broken families. By broken I mean families who went through divorce(s), did not communicate due to misunderstandings or hard feelings and/or had moved to different areas of the country and lost contact.

I learned at a very early age that your family does not have to be strictly those who are related to you by blood, but those you love dearly and are there for you through the good and bad. Looking back into my childhood I can remember quite a few "aunts" and "uncles" whom, by the definitions above, were actually not. These were close friends to my parents who were always around for holidays, birthdays and any special occassion; they visited more often than our immediate family members.

My definition of family:

Those you love and cherish dearly; those who are always there for you - no matter what.

Through the many ups and downs this journey we call life has given me, I have grown to be a very humbled spirit. I am eternally grateful for the people who are closest to my heart, my family, whether they are blood relation or not. My family: the peole who love me for exactly who I am, for all my strengths and weaknesses; those who make me smile and lend me their should to cry on; the people I know will be in my life, forever!
